The sublime Hotel Teatropace33 in Rome is the talk of the town! In the very heart of the historic centre of Rome, between Piazza Navona and the left bank of the Tiber, where you think you might at any moment see the Marchese del Grillo, a legendary joker, appearing from a doorway, the Teatropace33 opened in May 2004. This charming three-star hotel with 23 rooms was a cardinal’s residence during the reign of the Papa Re, Pius IX. The building, painted in typical warm red of Roman palazzos and sunsets, is situated in a narrow street, Via del Teatro Pace, that runs behind Corso Vittorio from the small square with the statue where, during the night, Pasquino left his satirical verses criticizing those in power in the city.
Located only 20 metres from Piazza Navona the Hotel Teatro Pace boasts a fantastic location for enjoying both sightseeing during the day and in the evening enjoying Rome’s thriving night life.
On entering the main door you find yourself in a tiny hall with an imposing spiral stone staircase the steps of which are broad and shallow with a balustrade of small columns running alongside it. Dating from the late seventeenth century, it is the work of the school of Onorio-Longhi, said 'il vecchio" (Viggiù, 1568 - Roma, 1619). It rises in wide spirals to the three floors above. How could anyone have even considered sacrificing it to make room for a lift?
The twenty-three rooms, pleasantly and classically furnished, almost all have wooden-beamed ceilings and parquet floors. From the windows and the occasional balcony you can enjoy some of the most authentic views of Rome: the church domes, roofs, terraces with flowers, elegant old courtyards and lively streets. One of the jewels of this charming hotel is the Junior Suite with a terrace large enough for a table and chairs, which has a direct view of Sant’Agnese in Agone.
Wood is a dominant feature of the rooms: it has been used in the bedheads, in the comfortable desks with drawers, and in the wardrobes. Yellow and blue are the colours chosen for the bed covers and the nineteenth century upholstery with floral patterns on the comfortable padded armchairs. Prints by Piranesi decorate the walls. The bathrooms (most of which have windows) are in yellow Siena marble with shower cabins (three have bath tubs). The rooms have been fitted with every comfort: air conditioning, direct telephone line, satellite TV, minibar, safe, PC/modem connection and a kettle for making tea or coffee at any time of the day or night in your own room.
Breakfast is served by an original room service: the waiter from the bar next door will rush your breakfast to you, expertly balancing on one hand a tray laden with frothy cappuccino and hot cornetti. What more could you ask for to really experience what Rome is like?

Proprio nel punto più suggestivo del cuore storico di Roma, tra Piazza Navona e la riva sinistra del Tevere, dove ad ogni momento sembra di vedere il marchese del Grillo sbucare da un portone, è stato aperto a maggio 2004 il Teatropace33, un delizioso hotel a tre stelle di 23 camere che ai tempi del Papa Re era la residenza di un cardinale. L’edificio – tinteggiato nel tipico, caldo color rosso dei palazzi e dei tramonti romani – è situato in una stradina, via del Teatro Pace, che si dirama dietro Corso Vittorio dalla piazzetta dove la statua indica ancora il punto in cui Pasquino nottetempo lasciava i suoi versi satirici contro i potenti della città.
Vicinissimo a Piazza Navona, all'ombra della famosa chiesa di Sant'Agnese del Borromini. Alcune stanze ai piani superiori hanno una vista eccezionale per godere di questo capolavoro. L'Hotel comprende 23 camere tutte contenenti i migliori comfort e e riflettono l'eleganza e la raffinatezza del periodo appartenente al palazzo stesso, ovvero quello barocco.
Entrati nel portoncino ci si trova in una minuscola hall, da cui si diparte un'imponente scalinata in pietra di forma elicoidale a pianta ellittica, di stile berniniano, opera dell'architetto Onorio Longhi (1568 - 1619). Questo "monumento", orlato da una balaustra a colonnine, con i suoi bassi e larghi gradini, si sviluppa in larghe volte, collegando il piano terra con i tre piani sovrastanti, raggiungibili solamente per mezzo della scalinata, essendo l'edificio sprovvisto di ascensore. Sacrilego sarebbe stato alterare la stupenda architettura ed il suo antico fascino con un tale segno di modernità.
Le ventitre camere, piacevolmente arredate in stile classico, hanno quasi tutte il soffitto a grosse travi di legno a vista e sono pavimentate in parquet. Dalle finestre e da qualche balcone si godono scorci della Roma più autentica: cupole di chiese, tetti, terrazzini fioriti, antichi cortili signorili e stradine animate. Una delle chicche di questo grazioso hotel è la Junior Suite con un terrazzo abbastanza ampio da essere attrezzato con tavolino e sedie, che guarda direttamente sulla cupola di Sant’Agnese in Agone.
Nelle camere predomina il legno, che ricorre nelle testate dei letti, nelle comode scrivanie a cassetti, negli armadi. Il giallo e il blu sono i colori scelti per i copriletto e per le tappezzerie ottocentesche a disegni floreali che rivestono le confortevoli poltroncine imbottite. Stampe del Piranesi decorano le pareti. I bagni (una gran parte con finestra) sono in marmo giallo di Siena con cabina doccia (tre hanno la vasca). Le camere sono fornite dei più moderni comfort: aria condizionata, linea telefonica diretta, Tv satellitare, frigobar, cassaforte, presa Pc/modem e anche di un bollitore per preparasi un tè o un caffé a qualunque ora in completa privacy.
Il breakfast è servito da un originale "room service": il cameriere del bar accanto che accorre bilanciando espertamente sulla mano il vassoio carico di cappuccino schiumoso e cornetti caldi. Cosa si può chiedere di più per respirare la vera aria di Roma?
